However, I feel the quote epitomizes the sacrifice and hard work put in by our mothers in raising us. Some historical facts: Did you know that Mother’s day in the United States was started by an individual by the name of Anna Jarvis? She started by organizing observances in Grafton, W. Va and Philadelphia on May 10, 1908. When the annual celebration gained popularity, Jarvis requested the Congress to set aside a day to honor mothers . Then in 1914, the Congress designated the second Sunday in May as Mother’s day.
