If evolution really works, how come mothers only have two hands? ~Milton Berle
The above quote isn’t an attempt to refute Darwin’s scientific theories or to discuss in lengths the science behind evolution. However, I feel the quote epitomizes the sacrifice and hard work put in by our mothers in raising us. From ensuring we are well fed, and clothed - in sickness and in health, managing our homes, balancing the checkbook and many more! It definitely takes a lot of work, mighty energy and ability to multitask! Let’s salute our moms for that!
It’s Mother’s day this weekend in the United States and a great opportunity to wish and appreciate what our mothers do and have done for us. If you are looking for gifts ideas and ways to show her your appreciation, we have come to the right place.
Prosperity Candle, our sister organization, has some really beautiful gift ideas and we are sure your mom will really love them! Mostly because it isn’t just a pretty looking gift, it has the ability to lift women out of poverty. These candles have been hand poured by Burmese refugee women rebuilding their lives in western Massachusetts, candlers from Iraq and our first two candlers in Haiti - Wilnese and Landy.
Your purchase will also help Prosperity Catalyst achieve our mission by educating, inspiring and supporting women to start their own candle-making ventures so that they can be independent entrepreneurs and help their children and families in return.
10% of your entire purchase is donated to us if you indicate Prosperity Catalyst under “How did you find us?” dropdown menu during checkout.
Also if you order before midnight tonight (7 May 2013), Prosperity Candle guarantees delivery in time for Mother’s day!

Some historical facts: Did you know that Mother’s day in the United States was started by an individual by the name of Anna Jarvis? She started by organizing observances in Grafton, W. Va and Philadelphia on May 10, 1908. When the annual celebration gained popularity, Jarvis requested the Congress to set aside a day to honor mothers . Then in 1914, the Congress designated the second Sunday in May as Mother’s day. So its been nearly a century since we have been celebrating Mother’s day here in the United States. - Source United States Census Bureau
