In June, Fanm Limye had the first candle-making workshop with 13 apprentice entrepreneurs. The weekend before the training DeeDee, our Haitian Operations Manager, and Ted Barber, Co-founder and President of Prosperity Candle, were frantically trying to get our workshop or “atelier” ready for the next day’s session. Here is a short youtube video that captures DeeDee’s excitement (which is very much in line with the whole team’s) on creating the very first candle in our brand new Fanm Limye workshop. As DeeDee in the video says, “This is after over a year a half of a lot of planning, a lot of stress, a lot of running around…we are in the warehouse, our workshop,” with our very first lit candle!
