Almost everyone has the talent to recognize opportunities around them. And when they are given the tools to transform those opportunities into reality, almost everyone is eager to do so.” - Mohammad Yunus

On 10th July, 2013, Prosperity Catalyst launched its summer fundraising campaign. Click here to view our campaign email. It’s been less than a week since the campaign launch, and we are excited to announce that we have already raised 1/4 of the funds needed to support phase 2 of our pilot program in Haiti!

The campaign will last two months with the goal of raising $80,000 before the end of the summer to support the completion of our Haitian pilot.

THANK YOU to everyone who has supported us thus far in any way possible! Your support goes a long way in ensuring that the women in Haiti have the tools and means to transform opportunities into reality for themselves and their family. Thank you to our Founding Catalyzers and our donors for your encouragement throughout our journey. Thank you to Imago Dei Fund for supporting us with a generous matching challenge of $10,000 to lead this summer fundraising campaign.

Please walk with us in this journey to empower women in Haiti. Please help us share our work and our fundraising campaign with others so that we are able to complete our pilot program in Haiti this year.

Fanm Limye’s work to date:

Behavioral training participants

So far our Haitian operations, Fanm Limye, has completed the behavioral and candle-making training segment for a group of Haitian women in need of economic opportunities. This segment of our pilot program took place in early June. To learn more about what we have achieved since, click here. Additionally, just last week we formally hired the apprentice entrepreneurs to start candle-production so that they could start earning fair wage and working towards fulfilling candle orders placed by Prosperity Candle. Do keep an eye out for the Haitian candles line in the Prosperity Candle’s online store!

In the next couple of months, we hope to provide our apprentice entrepreneurs with business management and financial literacy training. At the same time, we will be sourcing for local markets for our entrepreneurs to sell their candle products.

We are excited to continue our work in Haiti and we hope to be able to provide training and tools to our current cohort of Haitian women, who may not have had such opportunities otherwise. We believe that these women will be able to lead empowered lives and support their family and children. We hope that they can become role models for other women in Haiti and be ‘Fanm Limye’ or ‘Women illuminated.’
